Queen Anne Enamel and Pyrite Earrings

Queen Anne Enamel and Pyrite Earrings

C.1730-1750. A pair of English Queen Anne earrings. It is a wonderful example of rare Georgian jewelry being very wearable, and still looking truly elegant. This style of earrings is called 'Queen Anne' even though they are made in the early to mid 18th century; Queen Anne had her reign from 1702 to 1714. Queen Anne jewelry is highly collectable.
These earrings are set in silver, and in beautiful turquoise blue enamel adorned with pyrite. Since the original 'wig hooks' are very thick, and hard to wear for most people, we now have put new white gold ear wires for more practical wearability. The wig hooks were used on large earrings to tie the earrings into the hair to prevent the earrings from leaning forward or to alleviate the weight.

The earrings measure approximately 1" high x 7/8" wide at the widest, without the ear wires, and overall in good condition.
