Ancient Roman 'Potter at Work' Agate Intaglio Ring

Ancient Roman 'Potter at Work' Agate Intaglio Ring

A wonderful ancient Roman agate intaglio signet ring. The stone is carved to depict a potter at work. This unusual Roman intaglio dates to 1st-2nd Century A.D. Set in a high karat gold mount in the early 20th century. The single agate stone consists of a distinct color combination of black, white and caramel with a strong banding pattern. We personally love this ring as a pinky ring (current size 4.5), but it can be easily resized. The ring is overall in great condition.

See the different examples of ancient banded agate intaglios from The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The last image is from Thorvaldsens Museum in Copenhagen, and it shows an ancient Roman ring dated to 300 - 100 BC.
