Victorian Sterling Silver Collar and Locket

C.1876. An unusual Victorian sterling silver collar with a small locket. This wide collar, shaped geometrically, lays beautifully around the neck. The small locket (found with the collar as a set) has double-sided faces. One shows etched grape leaves (symbolizing ‘liberty’) and the other shows the initial ME (or EM). The locket contains two sepia portrait photographs that are easily removable if desired. The collar has a matched drop-down link issuing from the spring bolt. The locket can be detached, and the collar can be worn as a beautiful necklace by itself as well. It locket has full UK hallmarks 1876 Birmingham, sterling silver and the maker’s name of A & L.

- The length is approximately 18.5" in total. (from the large spring bolt to the end / not including the drop down link)
- From the bale of the drop down link (attached to the spring bolt) to the bottom of the locket measures approximately 2.75”.
- Locket measures 29mm x 22mm without the bale.
