Antique Armorial Clear Tassie Intaglio Ring

Antique Armorial Clear Tassie Intaglio Ring

A late 18th century armorial Tassie intaglio ring. Tassie is a glass version of a cameo or intaglio. It was named after James Tassie (1735-1799) who was a Scottish engraver. He created numerous miniature profiles and medals for the nobles in Britain, and made this type of intaglios very popular. This ring has an unusual shape of a diamond, and is set in 14k yellow gold, which was most likely done in mid 20th century. The ring has the natural patina in gold, and overall in very good condition.
