Georgian Black Enamel Mourning Ring

Georgian Black Enamel Mourning Ring

A beautiful late Georgian era (reign of WILLIAM IV) black enamel mourning band. We specially love the unusual 'shell' motif around the edges in this ring. Shell symbolizes rebirth. The black enamel says 'in memory of' in gothic script around the band. At inner band, the inscription reads 'Elizabeth, Hall. Obt 20th Aug. 1826. AE 29'. The ring is fully English hallmarked : WE (makers mark), 18k, London 1824 (letter i). Overall the ring is in great condition.
