Mid-Victorian Sterling Silver Oversized Locket

Mid-Victorian Sterling Silver Oversized Locket

C.1880. A mid-Victorian sterling silver oversized locket. This locket is the largest and the most substantial one we've had in silver. Its striking scale offers a strong and bold presence. The locket is oval. One side is finely engraved with the scroll design, and the other side has the beautifully done monogram of 'AVL or AVI' on the plain background; We always consider the well-designed monograms as embellishments rather than focusing on the letters only. The locket looks great in both sides, so why not two designs in one?
The original bail has the matching design with engravings. The locket is paired with a chunky Victorian sterling silver book chain, and they harmonize very well to make a gorgeous complete set. The locket has two photo compartments inside. Overall this piece is in great condition with natural patina in silver.
Total Drop: Approximately 2.9" (including the bail)
Width: Approximately 1.78"
