Pair of Silesian Iron Bracelets

Pair of Silesian Iron Bracelets

C.1790-1800. Very rare Silesian iron work bracelets in a matched set. Silesia is now part of Germany and Poland. The latest Silesian jewelry production ended in the early 1800s; iron work production moved to Berlin and soon after to France. It turned into elaborate neo-classical/gothic revival style pieces: evolution into Berlin iron jewelry. Silesian iron work jewelry reflects the influence of war time and the political state.
The finely woven wire in this bracelet is very lightweight. Each bracelet of this pair is ornamented with center coils accentuated with carved natural materials dyed the color of red coral. Every part of the bracelets remains original and intact. The clasp can be adjusted for different wrist sizes.
The surface shows some signs of light rust in a few areas, but there is no physical damage or sign of repair. These are historically important and very wearable fine antique jewelry pieces.
