Large Victorian Agate Pendant Brooch

C.1856. A sizable Victorian agate pendant/brooch. The stone shows the beautiful and organic colors and pattern. On the back, there is a remarkable engraving; 'Presented TO THE LADY Mrs. Dr. FLEMING from her old Friend ROBERT BALD ME.F.R.S.E as a testimony of his esteem 27 January 1856', with symbols of buckle & globe and Masonic motto 'EX TENEBRIS LUX NOSTRA EFFULGET' (The Light shines in the darkness / the darkness did not comprehend it.)  The pendant/brooch is silver gilt, and in great condition without any damages to the stone.
