Victorian Large Piqué Bow Pendant

Victorian Large Piqué Bow Pendant

C.1860.  A large and unique sentimental bow locket pendant features gold piqué inlay. Piqué is known to describe a technique in which gold and silver are inlaid onto tortoise shell to create patterns.

The locket has a fancy hand carved scrolled ribbon design with 14k gold (tested) and hand applied flower bead work. Inside the locket contains the original glass insert and gold frame for a photo or memento of a loved one. One side shows a chipped area inside on the bottom when open. (shown in the photo)  All pique work is intact featuring the interlaced letter 'A'. There are some surface scratches on the front and back due to its age.
