C.1890. A spectacular antique French diamond and sapphire snake ring.  Two chunky snakes are beautifully intertwined in a double coil. One snake has two rose cut diamond eyes, and is set with a cushion cut sapphire (1.09ct) on his head. The other snake has the ruby eyes with an old European cut diamond (0.74ct, G/SI2).  The diamond dazzles bright. The sapphire shows some natural inclusions, and the color of it is phenomenal with a deep cornflower blue tone. Both stones have an open-back setting. The ring bears French eagle hallmark, and is 18k yellow gold. It feels nice on hand with substantial weight (14.7g). The sapphire has some minor abrasions.
