An archaeological revival gold ring, dating from the height of the movement, circa 1860–1870. The ring's principal feature is the letter 'PAX', which is the Latin word for peace. Such a classical motif was highly prized during the era for its symbolic resonance and historical pedigree, directly evoking the legendary Pax Romana—the age of order, law, and prosperity established under the Roman Empire—which the Victorians sought to emulate through their profound fascination with antiquity. Pax carried a clear and powerful message of peace, tranquility, and harmony.
Currently this ring is US size 7, and it is resizable. The gold content tests 18k-22k throughout, and overall in very good condition.
