Art Nouveau Gold and Pearl Squirrel Wax Seal Pendant

Art Nouveau Gold and Pearl Squirrel Wax Seal Pendant

C.1890-1900. A very special and rare Art Nouveau gold and pearl squirrel wax seal pendant. This pendant has remarkable details- the organic form of a pearl became a squirrel's body, and he has a fluffy gold tail and an emerald eye. The squirrel is nesting under beautifully textured three oak leaves, holding an acorn in his golden hands. There are two extra gold acorns. A larger one is hanging under the domed leaves and the other is near the squirrel's feet. The bottom oval shaped wax seal area has remained empty without any carvings.
A squirrel is a symbol of cleverness and resourcefulness. And its symbolism encourages you to inject more fun and laughter, and to enjoy life. Acorns and oak leaves indicate power, new life, and longevity.
This pendant is truly one of a kind piece that shows fine craftsmanship, whimsical and unusual design. It is set with 14k yellow gold, and overall is in great condition.
