C.1860. Ingenious Trimorphic Snake Fob Pendant

C.1860. Ingenious Trimorphic Snake Fob Pendant

C.1860. An absolutely coolest and ingenious Victorian large snake fob pendant. This rare find reveals a secret when you slide and open the first layer of the fob. The second fob that is made with a gorgeous blue lapis bottom appears, and this clever mechanism applies again to make the third one pop up. A double ouroboros wraps around the bottom of the outer fob, and the coiled bodies continue to make to the top ending with the entwined bail. This unique fob pendant is trimorphic, which the largest is designed to uncover two others one by one. The biggest stone for the seal is a white and semi-translucent chalcedony. And the deep wine hued garnet reflects lights beautifully in the third/smallest one. The stones would have been carved to be used as wax seals, but they all have remained blank- perfect for your own personalization! The closure is secure, and it shuts with a good snap sound. Both snakes have red garnet eyes. The body of the fob tests 18k gold, and it feels nice and substantial with the weight of 18.78 grams. This fob pendant is ready to be hung in a chain. Overall it is in great condition.
