'FELIX ESTO MEMOR MEI' BANGLE

C.1860. A truly stunning and rare find Italian Grand Tour 14k Gold Bangle. The provenance traces to that the bangle had belonged to the Anglo-German writer, Elpis Melena. She was an avid animal rights defendant and fought for banning animal vivisection. Growing up in Italy in her early life, she later also became heavily involved in the Italian freedom and unity movement. The bangle is adorned with fine wire work and granulation of gold, and the raised lettering is through the front and the back panels of the bangle. It reads 'FELIX ESTO MEMOR MEI', which translates into 'BE HAPPY REMEMBER ME' in English. The bangle opens and closes with a cylinder bar pin on the side, and the closure is secure. Overall the bangle is in great condition.
