Mid-Victorian Micromosaic Puppy Earrings

Mid-Victorian Micromosaic Puppy Earrings

C.1860-1870. A delightful and whimsical pair of mid-Victorian micromosaic earrings. Each mosaic shows a Cocker Spaniel and a Jack Russell terrier. (or is he a Whippet?), and the puppies are depicted beautifully with such sweet faces. The mosaics are Italian Grand Tour souvenirs. and both have no missing tesserae. These are easy to wear, being a good size in a solitaire design. The black onyx vitreous paste with the mosaic is set with a gold-rope frame. The earrings are 18k yellow gold, and the ear wires are 14k gold. Overall the condition is great.
