Victorian Piqué Swirl Necklace

Victorian Piqué Swirl Necklace

C.1860-1870. An incredible and rare mid-Victorian piqué swirl. This piece is carved from one piece, and large in scale. Piqué is known to describe a technique in which gold and silver are inlaid onto tortoise shells to create patterns. The swirl has gold studs on front, and is put with a Victorian chain to be worn as a necklace.
Overall it is in great condition with normal surface wear.
