Victorian Whitby Jet Heart Padlock Bracelet

Victorian Whitby Jet Heart Padlock Bracelet

A late Victorian Whitby Jet carved link bracelet with heart padlock. 'Whitby jet' was found at the seaside town of Whitby in England. It was named after the town where it was found. The material has an organic origin, being derived from decaying wood under extreme pressure. With its natural color of rich black, Jet became very popular in Victorian period.

This bracelet shows chunky links, and the Jet heart padlock can be worn as a necklace pendent/charm itself as well. The length of the bracelet is approximately 8.5", and the padlock measures 1.5" (NS) x 1.10" (width). The bracelet shows some signs of wear due to its age. It is overall in good condition.
