A gorgeous late 18th century grisaille (grey) miniature portrait ring. It is set in a large rectangular octagon shaped frame with a beautiful greyish blue background. The ring would have been worn by a lover or a family member. The ring is 18k rose gold, and bears a French owl hallmark with the number '75'. (see the photo.)
This French hallmark indicates that the ring was brought to France, and was examined by French assay office around/since 1893. The French owl hallmark represents a gold piece that is imported from a country whose standards do not follow the French one. And '75' is a region number for Paris, so it shows that the ring was marked in Paris. The ring is currently US size 7.75 and resizable within moderation.
