C.1830-1848. Louis Philippe period pair of 'Birds of Paradise' enamel drop earrings. The earrings are crafted in 18k gold, and the pair features a motif of exotic birds and flowers that are depicted in the gorgeous colors of red, blue, yellow, green, black and white enamels. The enameling was possibly outsourced by a Viennese jeweler. The combination of the warm and rich yellow gold works beautifully with the vivid colors of enamel details. The lower body of the earring is chased with gold scrollwork. We love this shape of the ear pendants, as they are very flattering when worn, and this pair particularly offers quite striking and elegant look with the larger scale. The earrings weigh 5.17 grams and 5.19 grams each, which make them very comfortable to wear. Overall these are in very good condition with very little wear to the enamel.
