C.1820. An absolutely gorgeous French blue enamel locket. The locket is double-sided with identical enamel details on both sides. The large scale offers a striking look, and the enamel work is distinctively French and just superb. When the locket is opened, the inside reveals a hand engraving in gothic fonts that says 'à mon amie' (to my friend). It bears a French ram's head hallmark (1819-1838) and a later 18k gold owl mark at the top loop area. A mark on the side of the locket is illegible. The locket is crafted in 18k gold, and the color of the enamel is dark royal blue. Overall it is in great condition, and looks stunning when worn.
