Antique Iberian Emerald Earrings

Antique Iberian Emerald Earrings

A remarkable and rare pair of Iberian emerald earrings, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century.  The emeralds have a rich green hue, and each earring has six emeralds in either a square or rectangular cut, ranging approximately from 2mm to 4mm. Tiny diamonds in a 'rub-over' setting surround the emeralds. The earrings consist of three detachable parts, which can be worn separately if desired. They are made with 14k gold (or slightly higher) and silver, and the emeralds were most likely mined in Colombia during its colonial period. The earrings have the original back-to-front fittings. Overall in great condition.
