C.1800. A whimsical early 19th century gold and enamel stick pin. The pin features a colorfully enameled figure 'Punch/Polichinelle' in three dimensional form. Polichinelle is one of the classical characters of the masquerade. It originated in commedia dell'arte of the 17th century, and became an archetypal figure in Neapolitan puppetry. Overall the pin is in very good condition with minor surface wear.
