A Victorian 18k gold rooster head pendant. The details are beautifully crafted. We found this pendant as it is, but most likely it was once a stickpin, and now the pendant has a nicely made sturdy and hidden bale on the back of the head. The bale is big enough to serve different types of chains, and the pendant sits well on the chest when worn.
The Victorians were often whimsical and good at playing with symbolic meanings in jewelry. The rooster represents protection and good luck, and the pendant is a perfect everyday talisman. The pendant measures approximately 17mm x 14mm, and weighs 4.08 grams, which is heavy for its scale. Overall it is in great condition.
