C.1880. A gorgeous late Victorian gold locket with a starburst center piece with a sapphire of beautiful cornflower color and rose cut diamonds. The locket is adorned with ruby, diamonds and black enamel at four additional points. The rubies are in deep rich red hue, and there is no missing area for black enamel. The original bale continues to carry four rose cut diamonds in graduated sizes. The locket opens and reveals a photo compartment with a glass cover. It opens and closes with a good snap. This large locket is 18k yellow gold, and substantial in weight (28.7g). Overall in great condition with natural patina.
