A gorgeous late 19th century French gold chain. The chain is composed of openwork filigree links. Crafted in 18k gold, the chain bears French assay marks. The dog-clip and the small bolt ring are both in great working order. A filigree chain like this is distinctively French, originating from the 1870s. These openwork French chains continued to be made until c.1930, though some later versions feature cruder workmanship and connecting sections of simple rolo/curb links with less intricate work.
This chain weighs 30.46 grams, and measures approximately 18.25 inches. It is beautiful on its own and perfect for layering as well with its length. Overall this chain is in very good condition with the natural patina in gold.
